I just purchased a 2007 Tahoe, Silver. 4x4 3LT. I LOVE IT!!!.... I was used but very well taken care of. The only complaint I have is on the grill. The chevy emblem (i think its referred to as "bowtie") is messed up. I want to replace it, but think I may have to do the whole grill. Any input would really help.

Thanks,

A new and very happy owner.

Welcome.. Post some pictures when you get a chance.. Not sure on the bowtie if you can by the gold insert or if you have to buy the whole grill. I'm sure someone on the forum will have some good input as to what and where you can find a replacement

If it is just the gold part with the slim black surround, you will be able to replace just the bowtie. Might be a good time to paint it to match factory color. There are two 10mm speed nuts behind the grille. I can reach in behind the grille and take mine off. No need to loosen the radiator support cover or anything.

I have an extra one I bought if you decide to go that way.

The grilles go for fairly cheap on Ebay if you need the whole thing. Alot of people have added the new LTZ chrome version and sell the old one. You could splurge and go that route too but it will be most expensive of the three options.

Tahoe07, I wish I would have gotten your message before i bought one. I bought it off ebay for 23 bucks. This forum is awesome and so helpful.

My next move is going to be the wood grain console addition if I can find one at the right price. I refuse to pay what gm is asking. I would like to find somebody on the forum with one willing to sell.

The move after that is the following... I want to add navigation to my hoe. I am not sure if I wanna go factory or not yet. Any suggestions?

My last question for you vets, on my back bumper, there is a box to the right of the towing area. I was wondering if this is where the camera would possibly fit?

Thanks again everyone.

That box is how you access the mechanism to drop the spare tire from under the cargo area. The factory installed camera is located above where the license plate is located on the liftgate. I guess if you were mechanically inclined you could locate it there. It would take some fabrication of a mount but it could work.

Good luck!

:iagree:

If you look below the bowtie on the back liftgate and above the license plate you will find between the lights for the plate a square indention. This is the location for the factory camera.

Be advised that you'll lose about half of the functionality of that space when you put the wood grain one in. Check it out at a dealer and you'll see what I mean. I agree that they look good but are still very pricey.
