Well, I have been looking for the last 1.5 years for a nice Tahoe, preferably enthusiast owned.

I looked at everything from '00 Tahoe Limiteds, '99-'00 Tahoe Z71s, '99-00 Denalis, & '99-00 Escalades. I made a couple offers on some but never reached a deal till 2 weeks ago...

It is a 1996 Chevy Tahoe LT, always a South Florida truck. 2 owners, owned by a Marine Engineer who designs fancy Yachts for the rich & famous.

The chassis has 148K on it but the motor, tranny, suspension, rear, etc only have 33K on them since a full refurbish. When it was refurbished, they beefed up the motor and put a powerdyne supercharger, headers, etc etc. Tranny has a shift kit & is a mild upgrade. Auburn rear, ProComp 6 inch lift, blah blah blah.

I bought it sight unseen, but only after numerous phone calls & email exchanges. I flew down to South Florida on Tuesday, and it was pretty much as described. I took a look at some of his other fine autos/motorcycles and then hit the road with the bad boy truck.

I stopped in Atlanta the first day to visit a buddy of mine and then woke up early on Wed. to make the last leg of the trip. The supercharger came in handy in the Tennessee Mountains.

I averaged 14.5 mpg on the 1,400 mile journey at speeds of 60-70 mph. The Tahoe didn't even flinch, I was impressed! Had numerous thumbs up and people would come up to me everytime I filled up gas just to talk about the truck.

It needs a bit of TLC, but that is my specialty. By the Spring it should be looking pretty good and running even better. I want to find someone who can check the tune and make sure it is not running rich. I might send the supercharger to Powerdyne to change the belt.

Enough rambling.. here are the pics:

It rides much better than the lifted '97 Grand Cherokee I bought last year (it had a Skyjacker lift kit). The ProComp lift kit on the Tahoe and doesn't have the highway "death wobble."

Take care!

Damn... that's a nice truck!! The setup looks great, and supercharged too!! Congrats and welcome to the club~

I see the supercharger has a rising rate FPR... Is it plumbed downstream after the stock fuel regulator? Also... is there any ECU tune for that setup... or do you think it's all just mechanical bolt-ons... ?

Very nice ride!~

Thanks for the welcome. It does have a tune right now, but I don't think it is very good. It seems to run a tad rich, so I need to find someone who can tune it properly.

Tire size is 35x13.5x15.

Not sure if that is a weeping Norway spruce... but my neighbors are my in-laws so I will ask them

Welcome to the forum. You found yourself a beauty. I think it pays to have the patience to wait for the right deal.

For peace of mind with the blower, you might want to consider a Air Fuel mixture meter to give you early warning of problems.

I use the Innovate LC1 with the XD-16 display. It gives you the actual number along with the different colored LED's for quick reference. The LC1 puts out the standard signal as well as the wide band for the XD, so you could replace one of your stock O2's and not have to add a bung.

Here's some info if you are interested. Oh, and they have automatic calibration wich is a big feature.

I would be curious to know what tune or program you have. I noticed the MAF sensor is being used. Is it the stock ECM?

Looks like a first class installation. Is that a ribbed belt on the blower? You might want to get the number off the back and try to have one on hand. Most of them are off the shelf belts by Gates.

Great find. Keep us posted on the progress and discoveries. :D

Beautiful ride!

I like the whole wheel/tire/fender combo (and of course the lift). Do you think those wheels would fit in the wheel well if the truck wasn't lifted?

35's won't fit without a lift, unless you just want to just drive straight and trim the backs of the front fenders :yesnod:
