I'm sorry if this question has been asked already. I've looked but cannot find any definitive answer to this question...
My 2005 Chevy Tahoe with trailer towing package and increased cooling has 2 electric cooling fans. One is quieter and seems to come on with the a/c and maybe other times I don't notice (it's very quiet). The other, much noisier and very obvious when it comes on, seems to come on only in higher heat conditions like when idling or trailer parking on a 100 degree day (even though the engine temp is not that warm). When towing up very long grades the engine temperature will climb to 230 then abruptly drop back to the normal range. I'm assuming but cannot tell, that the second fan has engaged when this happens.
Question: how do I find out the factory set temp for when this second fan comes on and if this is operating within factory specs, can it be adjusted down? I would drop it at least 10 degrees if I could.
Thanks in advance. If you've seen another thread on this, please let me know.
