I have an 07 Tahoe LTZ and the warranty expires next month. Because of all the electronics and a few problems I've had already, I'm seriously considering the purchase of an extended warranty.

I've heard the factory extended warranty is the only way to go but I'm no expert. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to share advice, experiences, and/or the price you paid for your's so I can be sure to get a decent deal.

Thanks!

The closest thing to an official warranty is the GM Protection Plan.

You will want the Major Guard.

I paid $1300 for a 5-year, 100k extended warranty at the time I bought my 2008 Tahoe. $100 deductible.

They originally signed me up for some other warranty so I went back and made them give me the GMPP at a good price....which it looks like they did. All other online quotes have been a lot higher.

Good luck!

i got the same deal pretty much except a different warranty company.. i ended up buying my chevy at a ford dealership so the extended gm warranty wasn't even a factor. i'm still satisfied thus far though.

NC - do you recall what you paid? The one quote I've received so far was $1800 and change for 100K GMPP. That seems high. They tried to give me some BS about it being considered "insurance" and that insurance rates, by law, were non-negotiable in Florida... I smell a rat.

email your vehicle specifics (Year, milage, etc) to Dennis Fichtner at [email protected] They provide GMPP at the best price I have seen. disclaimer: I do not work there nor live there nor get anything in return.

They will respond to your e-mail with the costs for all of the GMPP warranty options with price available for your vehicle. I ususally e-mail them before purchasing a vehicle and make the dealer match their price in the sale.

Also, If you purchase the GMPP and sell the vehicle before it expires you will be credited (sent a check) by GMPP for the prorated balance on the warranty. I just traded a 3 year old 2006 Z71 for a 2008 Hybrid and got over half of what I originally paid for the warranty back.

Call 800-981-4677 for discounted GMPP warranty. This is bought directly thru GM. When you buy from the dealers, they mark up the prices and make a nice profit off you.

GMPP is def the way to go. Honestly though, I sell for my family GMC dealership and i find myself telling the good customers to allocate the money they would have spent on the GMPP strictly for repairs. most of the time they have money left over. this is more true when buying it for an older vehicle.
