My 300c sounded like a ricer when I moved away from the stock exhaust. I went to a Flowmaster first, then Magna and finally Borla. All had a drone. I finally disabled the 4 cylinder option with the Predator.

Are guys here having drone or tone issues with the Corsa setup (supposedly the best) or any other manufacturers? Can you notice the drop to 4 cylinders at all? Please, Corsa guys with the 8 to 4, can you please chime in.

I am considering going to Corsa.

When in 4cyl mode you are not really under any load.... So i doubt you would really hear much of a difference in the exhaust note, if anything, i would think the motor would just sound like it is idling.

I havent noticed any difference with the stock exhaust.

I am not concerned about the stock exhaust (although, if you listen carefully, you can hear the note change) I am worried about aftermarket exhaust and their inability to eliminate the drone. Corsa apparently has partnered with Bose to make it a thing of the past, but are others having issues with anything but Corsa?

I am going to have the Corsa sport exhaust installed in my 07 LTZ and will be able to let you know very quickly. I have an appointment to have it installed on Thursday....Waa Hoo!!
Anyhow, I was a little concerned with the V8 and V4 mode. But, from what I am reading in the forum from those who have the Sport exhaust, there have been no noticeable difference in sound. Then again, my Hoe only gets into 4cyl when I am on the freeway and then I can only hear road noise anyhow.

I will update in a week.

Actually there is an issue with this unless the exhaust was designed to compensate for this.

This sounds like a marketing gimic or something.

When the system switches from v8 to v4, it actually is disengaging the lifters on those other 4 cyl. So you are not getting any additional "air" into the exhaust system or anything to change the "note" of the sound. but you are loosing the volume of exhaust coming through.

I remember playing with the idle on my old muscle car. It used to idle at 1000 rpm as i had a pretty radical cam in there, but when playing with timing and stuff, the idle would sometimes hit 500. That is what i imagine the sound difference would be. As if you turned the idle down or hit another OD gear or something.

IF they did change anything with the exhaust, i imagine it would be some additional baffling to cut down on any resonance.

now, we all know that v4 mode only comes on when you are REALLY Light on the gas or just decelerating. For those folks that have an aftermarket exhaust, what are the chances they are light on the gas???? Is it really that much of a concern?

for comparison, I have a Magnaflow and I can notice the change from V8 to V4 mode. Driving on the highway is where you can notice the change in pitch, almost sounds like a big rig engine breaking when it goes to V4. Seems like it is louder when the engine and exhaust is hot. I can barely hear the change driving in the city (below 60 mph).

I like the smooth sound of the Magnaflow and the change in pitch is not a big deal to me. By the way, there isn't any drone or rasp that I can hear.

I agree, IF they addressed the V4 to V8 potential noise issue, additional baffles may have been used. Once you get the exhaust installed, let us know how you like it.

Trust me, no gimmick...

In my 300, it sounded like a ricer in V4. Of course there is load as the vehicle is not coasting. My 300 was unbearable, so I just need to be sure it is not going to happen in the hoe...

If you want to be safe you can get the GM aftermarket exhaust which is either Borla or Corsa. It has been both, I just can't remember what the current one is. I think it is Corsa now, somebody can correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think I've read any complaints on the Corsa (other than the price tag).

I guess my point was that i dont believe exhaust companies are going through hoops to develop a system that makes a 4 cyl sound like an 8 cyl. it is what it is. The resonance is the thing you DONT want, other then that, it is still a 4cyl.

Have you ever heard a nice sounding 4cyl?

I would bet that the corsa system uses an off the shelf corsa/borla muffler as well. Nothing special other then the bolt-on piping. (jmho)
