for the past 2 days my truck sounded wierd, like a heavy duty truck with low gears. or maybe like driving in 4 wheel low, exept it doesnt have 4 wheel drive. i went to pick up my girl from work and as i pulled into the parking lot i heard a clanking noise and the trans started to slip. when i put it in drive or reverse it doesnt engage right away and once it starts rolling it has a clanking sound? ive never heard of a tahoe having a tranny going bad? i just dont understand:mad2:

The 4L60E is known for being mediocre strength-wise, and I have heard of high numbers of them going bad in any full size truck, Tahoes included. Sorry.

The 4L60E in my old '03 blew at 40k miles... so yeah... they suck. I sprung for the extended warranty to 100k miles when I bought my '08 simply because I expect it's tranny to go at some point.
