Engine Upgrades?

I am looking to upgrade my engine on my Tahoe and I was wondering if any of you have made any changes that have beneficial. I am open to any suggestions

Well lets start with some simple questions:

What are your goals? Better fuel efficiency? More torque for towing? HP?
What size engine? 4.8, 5.3, 6.0
Are you looking at bolt ons only (headers, intake, exhaust) or do you mind diving in? (Heads, Cam, FI)

Once you answer these people can help out with more detailed plans.

I rebuilt a 68 Camaro SS from the ground up so I certainly do not mind diving in. I am looking for all three actually. Better fuel efficiency more hp and more torque for towing power. I have a 5.3L V8 Vortec
