Had our '05 Tahoe in for basic lube service at local Chevy dealer this past week. Tech advisor informed me that we should really consider The Supreme Engine Cleaning Service from Wynns. For ONLY $59.95 could rest assured that our 91k 5.3 would be free of varnish, sludge and other contaminants. Performance will be improved and engine life prolonged.

I declined their offer. What say you - fellow Tahoe folks?

Thanks

If it has been maintained with conventional oil it could use it, if it has been maintained with full synthetic it probably doesn't need it.

How have you been maintaining the engine so far, how often have you been changing the oil what type of driving have you done mostly for the engines life?

I have taken many engines over 200k miles without ever having any major problems or going inside the engine for any reason just by using regular engine oil, no snake oils or additives required.

Have you read this ? http://www.wynnsusa.com/maint_engine.aspx

Its all just claims no verifyable facts to be found, anybody can make the same claims heck I can start my own engine flushing company using the same claims.

"The Supreme Engine Cleaning Service from hoser 29.95. "

The Wynn's name has been around for as long as I can remember but so has the slick50 name LMAO

Snake oil, do your own oil changes and allow the oil to drain out over night not just drain for 3 min at your dealer, most dealers have a low paid unskilled flunky doing oil changes.

Try asking here see what they think http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

Let us know what you find out..

I used to hear that the engine flushes are a wonderful thing, that they clean the engine from top to bottom...but...where does all that sludge go? Into the oil pan, and it won't come out with an oil change, so it can end up clogging your oil pickup screen and causing all kinds of problems. But that's just what I heard...

Engine flush?

Thanks for the comments. We bought our '05 with 30 some thou on it. It now has 91k. Pretty tight on 3 k changes with recommended oil. Some at Chevy dealer, some at Jiffy Lube with Pennzoil. I have not used synthetic.
Engine does not use any oil between changes. I do not use any additives.

Take care - GaryC
