Hello new guy here,
I have an '02 LT with 48000 miles. My problem is similar to some but nothing on the money. I just put a brand new battery in the truck 2 months ago, 2 weeks later the truck started normally and the guage was in the 14 range, when I stopped to go into store and came out the battery was dead, not a click or anything. I got a jump start and all seemed fine, till it happened again. I returned the battery and every thjing was fine again until yesterday. It started up drove fine, coming home the gauge dropped and the gas pedal had no sistence. I put in neutral and revved a little, everything fine. I drove it two more miles and the truck lost all power. Luckily I was at home and juumped it myself. I let it idle for 2 hours and when I went back and turned it off it would'nt restart. Another weird thing all the guages bottomed out and then sprang back up but it still wont start.

Any help?

it happens i used to get my batteries from the salvage yard for 5 bucks. have the parts store do a test on your battery, take the battery out and drive it over, autozone, kragens etc all do this. if the battery is not the issue, then i would start looking for an intermitten problem, look for corrosion on your cables,or loose connections @ your starter. i doubt its your alt. because if your battery died your gauge would have jumped to 16+ charging. if there is corrosion on your cable ends grab a dmm (digital multi meter) and do a voltage drop on your positive and negative sides of your starter circuit. battery corrosion likes to wick down the battery positive cable and eat it , so the cable will look good but will have a intermitten starting, and dying problem.

Ok, I went back to walmart and got new battery, they have a three year free replacement policy. I put the new battery in and I had to push the accelerator down and give it gas, it was like it was starved or not flowing right. I slow revved for awhile and the idle stayed at 500 and she seems to be fine. I also disconnected the battery to see if alternator was ok and it was fine. So I hope it was just a bad cell, and should I be concerned about the difficulty starting?
