Electric water pumps are not as reliable as the conventional belt driven pumps. They also just run at one speed all the time. The belt driven, obviously follows the rpms of the engine, and more closely matches the demand for removing heat from the engine.

Many think that they gain power at the crankshaft because of not having to pull the pump with the belt drive. The truth of the matter is, the amperage it draws is added to the alternator demand and it ends up being a horse a piece. Plus you have to add electric fans to the radiator and that amperage is also added to the load.

I would only use a electric pump if it was needed for customizing reasons like relocating a radiator or something of that nature. Otherwise, you are better off sticking with the old tried and true belt driven pump.
