Jenna you are awesome, I wish my wife was half as much into this stuff as you are, Justin (assuming he is your partner) is a lucky man. I happen to know a thing or 3 about the A/V side of this stuff and would be honored to offer you my suggestions when you are ready.

I have to give Justin all the credit, as he painfully has to explain all this stuff to me, and then reexplain in "jenna terms" so I can process it! :umn:
Between him and these forums, there is a plethora of knowledge! :cool2:

Be on the lookout for some posts on a new headunit for my Tahoe soon :D

sorry about being late, but I am definitely interested in that write up. I have been thinking about that mod, but I don't know that much about it. Thanks!

Cool, I got them on last night and so far I love them!! I’ve been working on the write up- off and on all day, should have something up by this weekend.

I can absolutely feel that there is less drag when I accelerate and they are SOOOOO much quieter! The shop that re-did my air-conditioning this summer put a heavy-duty clutch fan on it and I’ve hated driving it every since, but now it’s gone!!!! Thanks for the reply.

Right, unless you want to fab up some brackets. I opted to do that because everyone is trying to get the 05/06 ones and they are going for about 300.00.

With a little ingenuity you could save about 200.00………

so the LS1 fans your purchased were not for the 05/06 hoe/kon?

if you dont mind my asking, which did you purchase and what did you fab up? I may go this rout, a little "red neck enginuity" never hurt anyone

That looks damn near like what comes on them. Might try and get the dimensions. My sister in law drives an 06 and hers are offset like that.

There is a pic of mine in my EFAN TUTORIAL

I was able to find a set of fans at a local salvage yard for $85, normally $125, but the mount was broken off that I wouldn't have used anyway. They were off a 99 Trans Am. I picked up the harness from Justin, in person, so I didn't have to pay the shipping charges, so I'm into this for $167.50. I think I have everything I need to install them except the time. He already did my tune, so I'm set from that angle.

Oneradride, I'm planning on using your writeup to complete my work. Can you think of anything else I might need to know?

Alternative to ls-1 fans?

I know that several people who build old school cars and do v8 swaps into say 240z's etc, use the electric fans from the older Ford Taurus. I'm very interested in doing this and wanted to explore different options for the conversion. I know several different makes and models use the dual fan set up and also there are the ones that use a single, large fan.

I see on several of the performance sites, they sell the single large fans, etc. What are the cfm requirements that the stock fan meets? I know there are several options, in case a good set of ls-1 fans can't be found for a good price.

I'm not sure what all will and will not work, but if we can find out the cfm of the stock unit, maybe we can get a list going of alternatives.

Has anyone tried the following?
