I'm considering going to DRM(doug rippie motorsports) and having him put my rig on the dyno and tune from there or should I go with a new pcm from blackbear? I'm just looking for a little more performance from my hoe is all :)

If you want to compare apples to apples, I would go with a cable tune as it is closer to a dyno tune. That being said, you want to make sure the dyno being used, is a load bearing dyno for best results. Also, make sure you get all the details upfront, a lot of shops will only do a few dyno pulls for you, or will charge you out the wazoo for retunes.

My mom brought her vette to him. He did an Ls1 edit on the thing and did about 5 or 6 pulls on the dyno. Also replaced some o2 sensors at no charge. He was a very nice guy and was willing to answer any questions we had. That was some good mother son bonding time :)

What kind of a dyno was he using? That sounds like it would be a good tune for WOT but not for part throttle, 5 or 6 pulls is full throttle operation. You can't do part throttle with an inertia dyno, which is what it sounds like he has.

By the looks of the video, your WOT will be nailed down but it is hard to say how your part throttle will work.

By all means talk to the tuner, see how many trucks he has done and the type of software and dyno.

I called him up today. I told him what my goals were and he said he has done some trucks before and that he won't be a problem. He said he was quite busy but should be able to fit me in next week. cost is 250 dollars.

Be sure to check on the type of dyno, the amount of pulls he will do, and the cost of re-tunes.

For best results, you will want an inertia dyno. Also make sure all the pulls are not at WOT as you will find getting best MPG will come from the part throttle areas. You may also want to request that he do a street tune after the dyno to make sure you are happy with all the adjustments and that the tune is efficient.
