door alarm?

i have a 97 tahoe and when i open the door with the keys in the ignition; i hear no alarm. is there suppose to be one? maybe the previous owner disconnected it. but if he did, how do you turn the door chime back on?

theres a little switch next to the fuse pannel when u open the driver door, if the switch is missing then thats ur problem he prolly took it out its easy to put a new one in and there about 5bucks, if the switch is there open the door and then push the switch in with ur finger if the lights go off when u push the switch in then come on when u let the switch out then the switch works and the alarm speaker is prolly bad but is should work and sounds like one of ur switches is bad theres i think 3 on the two door tahoes both driver [passenger door and then one on the hatch/rear doors check them all,
