So I finally got around to attempting to remove the front bowtie from my Tahoe. After awhile I FINALLY got the two bolts off. I tried pushing from the back but to no avail. Any suggestions? Tips? I want to get it off so I can take it along with the back one to have painted.

Ordered the Volant today too :)

Once you remove the two screws there will be small spots of tape holding it on. No need to heat or cut with anything. It should just pull off. don't be afraid to put some effort into it. It will pop off.

Ah. I can't see anything behind the grill as I've only been "feeling" my way around with my hand. It is only the gold part that comes out, no?

Yep...only the gold part comes off....once you get the two speed nuts, just pull the gold part off...be careful to not crack grill or anything. You can use dental floss or a flat plastic 'knife' or something to pry the double face tape behind the gold emblem away from the grill....

Weird. I'll give it another shot tomorrow. I tend to not try and force things because I tend to break them :eek2:

thanks.

Just to help, the Gold and the black edge will come off together as one piece.

If you are painting most darker colors, paint it all. If you are painting white or lighter colors, tape off the black so it stays black and you will get a better look.

Thanks.

I tried again this morning but to no avail. I tried a plastic fork and it ended up breaking. Doh!

I'm almost positive that my front bowtie is like everyone else's even if it is a Southern Comfort so it will probably just take some more work

my grill for example

The back was 1000x easier for some reason.

The back was the hardest for me. Tape was really sticking that sucker on.

The front pulled right off after the two speed nuts came off.

Here's what stays behind...you can see the black and gold are missing.

Just thought of something...the black and gold are almost concave and the chrome behind bulges into the back of it. bowtie surrounds or bends back over the chrome behind. If you try to pry something in there it may not go. Just get a grip and try pulling slowly. It won't snap off. Slow steady pulling should release it

Finally!

I ended up putting two plastic knives on each side of the center, and then being able to pull it off.

thanks for the help... now to get the bowties painted

any pics of the finished product?

Actually I haven't taken any pictures because the Hoe is nasty and I wanted to clean it before taking pictures. However the bowties look GREAT. I also added a volant intake.

I *might* wash it tomorrow but it may have to wait because I'm going out of town on business for a week come Sunday.
