There are probably supercharging solutions out there for your Tahoe. I know Whipple1 has a supercharged Denali, but he has the 6.0 engine and you have either the 4.8 or 5.3. Supercharging I would think is going to be alot easier than dropping a Dmax in there. If that's even possible, I'm sure there would be some complications that I don't know about. And also you'd have to take into consideration the big changes in power output that could stress your powertrain.

A s/c like a Whipple or Magnuson will bring the 5.3's output to about 450hp and 500ft/lbs tq. A twin-screw type charger will be a lot better than a centrifugal charger (like Vortech and Pro-charger) for our trucks because the power will come in a lot sooner in the lower rpm band.
This option will be a lot easier and cheaper than a diesel swap. Aside from the engine, you'll have other things to swap like the pcm, fuel system, trans, etc.

Duramax swap will require a body lift to accommodate the allison transmission (which is why the 3/4ton trucks have a stock 2" body lift). A radix blower or procharger is an easy way to make 500whp reliably in these trucks, check into a trick performance turbo kit too.
