I came out to my truck the other day to find that the rear bumper trim piece that covers the tow hitch is gone. :nonod:

I'm pretty sure it came off while driving, as I've had some issues with it coming off at the top, and being held on solely by the two plastic turns on the bottom.

At any rate, it looks as though GM does not sell the part already color-matched  Two questions for you guys:

1) is there an acknowledged "cheapest, best" place to buy parts?

2) should I just buy a can of paint and spray it, or do I need to actually take it to a body shop to have them spray it in the original color?

I'm already looking at ~ $100 for the part, I'd hate to have to pay another $100 just to have it painted!

It comes painted already, call your dealership parts department with your VIN# and they can get it for you.

called my local dealer this morning with my VIN...he said that it only comes in primer:(

The one for the Denali is different than the one for the Tahoe or Yukon. It actually has small tabs that slide in under the chrome trim peice on the bumper. My brother has a Denali and his fit tight and snug until I took it off to see if it would fit on my bumper. The Denali has a different bumper and I think the opening is bigger also. I put his back on but it kept coming down on one corner. There seems to be too much play with the fitment. If you want your cover to look factory then I would probably have a shop paint it. If you are going to rattle can it, get the paint form the dealer so it matches.

No worries...the question is...why the heck do they not offer the Denali piece color-matched? What a pain in the arse. :umn:

Not sure where the part from ebay got painted but the trim pieces come to the parts dept unpainted. Been that way for a very long time. Minimizes inventory.
