Other than my introduction this is my first post. I have a 1998 Tahoe with 90k miles and is in really great shape. it was my father in law's and he used it to go to the lake and pull his boat, but it mostly sat in the garage and he drove his Cadillac for all his transportation needs. The interior was vandalized and the dash was severely damaged. I have a friend that is in the body shop business and has been looking for a replacement for me, but so far no luck. I just found a 1997 Suburban for sale on Facebook and it's dash is in great shape my question is will a 97 fit a 98 without to much modification? The 97 Suburban is available for just a few hundred dollars and the only thing that is really trashed are the seats and carpet. All the glass and body parts are in good shape. I don't currently need anything but the dash, but it would be nice to have a donor vehicle. Are the 97 and 98 models interchangeable?

Should be pretty much the same truck, Look at the passenger side of the dash and see if you have a low side (like a 96) or if it has the later airbag/ and or pocket......

The best I can tell they are the same. The airbag is over the glove box. I went ahead and bought a 97 Suburban for parts. The donor vehicle is in great shape except the seats and carpet so I have many parts available. I don't know if I should hang onto it or part it out and get my purchase price back.

are there any websites for interior parts or is the junk yard the only option?

I installed the full dash from a 1997 Suburban into 1998 Tahoe and it fit perfectly. After buying the 1997 I have my own parts car. I hope don't ever need any of the body panels.

How bad is the damage on your dash? I'm curious because there are inexpensive dash covers that can provide an easy fix.
