We have two types of tunes available, so to start you will need to decide which one suits your needs.

They are a traditional mail order tune and a scan cable mail order tune. With the traditional tune, you provide your VIN, answer a set of questions and we will mail out a tuned PCM to you.

With the scan cable tune, you pay a security deposit and we ship out a cable that you use to collect data from your vehicle as you drive. That data is then emailed in to us to be analyzed. In some cases, the data will show a mechanical condition that needs to be corrected before the tuning process can proceed. If this is the case, we'll do our best to help you determine the cause of the problem so that your tune will perform as well as it possibly can. Once all problems are squared away, we'll then build a tune for you based on that data and ship a tuned PCM out to you. You'll then use the scan cable to perform a crank relearn procedure and create a final log with the new PCM in place. The scan cable is then returned for a refund of your security deposit.

Also check out www.blackbearperformance.com.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

the truck runs pretty good,I don't think there are any underlying problems.the only thing that really drives me nuts is the lag in the accelerator pedal when you want to pass or speed up.could you give me a link to on some of the questions you ask.if I go with the cable tune how long do you have to drive the truck with the cable?thanks

There is currently a wait list for the cable tune of about 5 weeks. Usually with the cable we will ask the customer to do a wide variety of typical driving (ie. stop go, highway, 0-60 bursts). Pretty much just plug it in and let her log everything you do on a day to day, and Justin will let you know if he wants you to do something else based on your logs.

Tune Options - NBS

Do you have any other special requests or problem areas that you'd like addressed?

Why? Cable tune is so easy and I wanted to see how a tune looks with efi live so I have an idea of where to start when I buy the suite. Justin does a great job on these trucks, the software allows you so much adjustment if you know what you're doing.

Thats just it, i dont know what im doing. I can screw up a computer trying to play mine sweeper. OR even turning it on. :mpr:

Plus 5 weeks is too long for me to wait, IM a very impatient SOB. :smilielol: SO i would just tell them what i want and have them send me a tuned PC thingy.

o yea, can justin tune an 8.1 liter. How much power gain could i see. I cant belive the flood of the market around va beach of 8.1 liter suburbans and yukons.

Yeah things have been pretty crazy and we are currently purchasing more cables to help diminish the wait list!

hey jenna... most of the people on here have a pretty large vocabulary when it comes to a lot of this stuff, however, mine is pretty limited, expecially when it comes to Tranny's...

If (more like when) I get my custom tune from you guys, how would i know what shift points i want... (I hate to admit it, but i dont know what WOT stands for) so i am not sure how much help i am going to be.

I have a few more mods to do before i get my tune, but i still want to get "smarter" about some of this stuff in the mean time

Not to worry Ty. We get customers from all walks of life, even some that have never touched a computer before. No question is too dumb, and will only help you understand your vehicle better.

As far as shift points go, it is based on personal preference. Agressive or not? Justin will firm them up a bit as a standard, but many folks want the shifts to be quick and powerful (better on your tranny). He has no problem walking you through this (or anything else for that matter)when it comes time to doing your tune.

WOT- Wide Open Throttle

Let me know if there is anything else I can clear up for ya!

Go ahead and shoot Justin an email at [email protected] and he will get you going on the process. He could probably get one out to you this week.

I dont think the one im looking at has an Allison. I think its got the 4L80E. Would that handle the torque management adjustments better??? I know the 4l80E is a much stronger tranny.

Ok. What i want out of the tune is more power. More torque and to be able to burn rubber when stomping on the gas off the line. My 07 if you stomp on the gas it lags and when it shifts it gets its on, Im hopeing the heavy duty version wont have that issue.

THANKS A BUNCH FOR THE INFO. But if it does have an allison, your only about 3 and a half hours north, It sounds worth it to drive up there and stay in a hotel the time needed for it to get done.
