Brand new member here....have owned my Tahoe since 2001 though. This may have been answered before, so please bear with me.
For the last 2 years I have a strange "Clicking" cound coming from under the dashboard. I have the locks set, since I have kids, to auto lock at 15 mph or whatever it is. When it gets that fast, it will lock the doors, but a clicking noise comes out from under the dashboard 5-6 times and then stops. It will do it almost everytime without fail. It has done it so long now that I have become deaf to it, but others in the car will notice it and ask.
Any ideas?
I am guessing something with the relay for the door locks.
2 years ago I had it in for some recall work and mentioned it to the dealer, next thing I know, they are installing a new steering column, front linkages etc. Claimed to have it fixed. I told them when I O.K.'d the work that I did not think that was the problem, because the clicking sounded electrical, not mechanical. They gave me some long dissertation about how they found too much play in the steering, etc. They had always done excellent work for me in the past and never gouged me, so since I was/am going to keep the truck till she goes to the scrap heap, probably pass it on to my son in a couple of years, I had the work done. Got home, left to go to the store and the clicking started again.
