Clearing Headlight Q's

So Im clearing the headlights (taking off the orange blinker piece. I've got the lights off the vehicle and I am wondering what is the best way to get the back and front apart so I can do so. I believe they are held together by silicone, and I don't want to go cracking/breaking anything, so should I heat it up with a hairdryer?
