I have a 2012 Tahoe that I bought last February. All my cars have been Jeeps up until now. I recently noticed a chuggle/Rattle sound when the vehicle is at 1200 rpm and 35 mph. It is not continuous. It happens for about a few rattles and then goes away.

I took it to the dealership this week and like any car it never performs the mysterious sound when you want it to. They checked the trans dip stick, all the heat sheilds, all tubes along the firewall, and exhaust to make sure nothing was touching. Everything checked out.

The mysterious sound seems to be coming from the dash/trans area but definately underneath or in the back of the engine bay.

I have seen a few complaints from others about the AFM system. When I hear the sound the car is not switching from V8 to V4 or visversa.

I only have 20,000 miles on this car so far, but I might tear my hair out if I can't figure this one out.

Any suggestions or possible solutions from owners that may have had a similar problem.

Thanks,

Jon

i would check if there is a recall. a buddy of mine has a silverado and there was a recall on the oil pump. lack of oil can result in noise coming from timing chain and tensioner. so on so forth. good luck

Chuggle Rattle

Im not really sure on the description you are giving.

But have you looked into plugs and wires?

Faulty fuel pump?

Does it happen randomly or does it happen more when the vehicle is cold?

It could be a problem with your computer?

When I had some of my older cars when it would make that type of noise coming from the middle of the exhaust area it was the heat shield..

But your truck is under warranty so I would continue to bring it back there until they can figure out whats wrong with it..
