Nothing in the Central AC/Heater control panel works. No heated mirror, no blower, and of course, no AC. No 4WD indicator lights. No cruise control either. I get varying instrument panel indicator lights; ABS Service, 4WD service. No trouble codes. When I vary the blower control switch, I can get the illuminated lights to go out. And, occasionally, when I start it up, everything works, but not for long. I was thinking a loose wire, or the inside-to-outside connector plug, or maybe replacing the center control panel. Is any of this computer controlled?? I really don't understand what the common denominator is between the control panel, the instrument warning indicator lights, and the cruise control.

Any help, advice, etc, would be most appreciated.

What year is your rig?

I would start checking grounds, Check also the power feeds to the dash.... I am chasing down a power feed for my power seat and passenger power door in my minivan.....

Checked IP Fuse Block. Found Fuses 5, 6, 24, 18, and 12 to be at 6 VDC.This is the common point for my problems with cruise control, AC, 4WD, etc. All of these fuses connect to C266 wire 300 ORN from the Ignition Switch. I have to dismantle the steering column to get to the connector, but a little more poking around with a voltmeter and I think I have found the problem. Stay tuned........

Bad ignition switch? Check the red wires to the orange with the ignition on you should read your missing voltage, ignition off you should read full battery voltage (this is assuming your switch is bad.)

BTW the issues with the venture were a bad 4way splice under the carpet just in front of and to the right of my front passenger seat.

Operation Successful

Replaced the ignition switch. Operation completely successful, I now have 4WD select, A/C, Cruise Control, and everything else I didn't have before.

I also learned more than I ever wanted to know about GM trim removal and fitment. It turns out you have to remove the key cylinder to remove and re-install the upper steering column shroud. And there are special Torx Sockets (E4, E5) needed.

Anyway....IT Works!!!!

I never remove the key cylinder, they will fit.... You just have to work it.... and be careful not to break off the hazzard switch.
