Center Console Wiring

I have a 2004 Tahoe with the center console and the cubby forward with the lighter and laptop/cell power plugs. I'm thinking about maybe putting 2 leds inthe lower cubby for access lighting - just see what I have in there. How do I get access to that part of the console - can I pull up the tray for the cupholders and get access ?

I'll also have to find a wire from the lighting circuit so the leds only come on when the dash lights,etc are on. Any body know which wire this might be say from the heater, ac control panel ?

If the cupholders are the same as the one in the 2001, yes, it just pulls up and you can see underneath the console.

Hopefully JK will have some insight into the colors of wires for switched power. I seem to recall purple/white, but I'm not 100% on that. Might want to do a quick search on the forum for "switched power"
