Been searching a number of posts yet can't determine a definitive answer. Learned a lot and it appears I may be very close here. I have a 26' TT, 28' with tongue, weighs about 6900 lbs loaded and has a Reese dual-cam, weight distribution hitch. My Tahoe is an '07 LTZ 2WD 5.3L with 3.42. I realize that the tow rating for this set-up is 6200 lbs. If I were to 1)install 4.10, 2) install auxiliary trans cooler and 3)trans temp guage - will this be sufficient? Looks like the 2WD w/3.73 is rated at 7200 lbs (Is the only difference in the ring/pinion?). Also seems like I am at the upper limit as far as length, but hope the Reese will aid a little here (weight dist. and sway control). If I can do this, then maybe I can worry about some bolt-ons later that can provide a little more power. I really like my Tahoe and want to use it for towing. Thanks.

that should work. But im not an expert on this. Gearing makes a big difference in towing ability.

You'll definitely want to add the tranny cooler and gauge and the engine oil cooler and you should be okay with the setup you've got. Basically the K5L option package. But if you installed the 4.10's or 3.73's that would be a bonus.

The 2WD is about 500 lbs lighter due to no transfer case and front axle.

You should have tranny temp readout on your DIC.
