I have noticed on many vehicles, my Tahoe is not one, that there are numeric keypads outside the vehicle that control the door locking system.

I've always thought this would be a nice feature and was wondering if there are any aftermarket that I could add, or off another vehicle that could be added, or is this all tied into the computer and little chance of this working?

I would look to see if the keypad is mechanically attached to the door locks, or if its like our remote keyless entry and you punch in a code and sends out a signal that unlocks the doors. If thats the case, the next step would be to see if you can change that frequency to match the system on the GM's. Im just thinking of a garage door opener, you have a control thats just buttons in the vehicle and on the inside of the garage, but on the outside you have a keypad entry system that is basically a remote control but requires a code to work.

its electrionicly attached to the locks. its like a button on the outside. if it was wireless it would not be that reliable.

I have a 99 Expedition, and use this ALL THE TIME!

I am thinking of getting a Tahoe, and this is my biggest issue, loosing the keypad! If something like this comes along, I'll probably trade the Expy in tomorrow!
