Cali Catalytic Converter vs. Non Cali Converter

What's the difference between a Cali Catalytic Converter and a non Cali cat.

california just has stricter emissions laws so they have to make cat's for people in cali.

My engine light has been on for thousands of miles and a few years about replacing my right one, but i haven't because it still passes smog. I just turn off the light right before I smog it and it passes just fine. I just get tired of seeing the engine light.

Wow, thats all you have to do there in CA.. wish i were that lucky - we have no smog tests here.. - i'm in NC, they hook up a cable to the OBD2 port under the dash, if it detects a check engine light - boom fail, if all of the systems haven't completed a cycle such as the AIR, EGR, Catalyst etc - then we fail..

Yeah, California has the most strict emissions laws.... MA has the same laws =(.

Except, they are supposedly passing a law this year in MA to change emissions to OBDII and later only. That means that my 1995 Tahoe will not have to have a smog test done to it, I will just have to have a cat for "visual" check. I could put a hollow cat in there and it would be fine, as long as it is physically there to look at.
