So for the past week or so, my brakes became a little quirky. Under hard braking i felt a little bit of a grinding/shaking of the brake pedal. It felt like the abs was coming on a little strong, but i shrugged it off. This morning, my ABS light came on and since i've been sketched out driving my truck. Those of you from familiar with the 405 freeway in morning traffic can back me up on this. Anyway, i'm bailing on my first class to try and diagnose the problem so i can get it serviced as soon as my other classes end.

Just for the record, i'm driving an 01 Tahoe LT with 2wd and the 5.3 at 99,200 miles.

When was the last time you replaced your pads and rotors? That would be the first thing I would check. The ABS light might have come on because when the pads get low it would use more of the brake fluid then that would make the amount of fluid lower and that would make the light come on.
I hope this was some help, good luck

well, i took it to a place to have the code read and found out my entire ABS module was taking a crap on me. When i turned off the car, i could hear a hissing/vibrating coming from near the fuel filter and i knew it was something big

also found out my catalytic converter was partially plugged and was failing....sweet deal
