I want to gain the most horsepower out of my Yukon. I wanna start with the smallest stuff and work my way right to a Twin Turbo Or Surpercharger.

Not so much HP... but an MSD 6A ignition w/ MSD Coil and 8.5mm wires do wonders for the mpg, idle smoothness, and engine starting... which means the engine is running a bit more efficient? which also means it's a good compliment for future mods like SC, turbo, NOS, etc...

You are going to have to get acquainted with the age old question affiliated with the hunt for horsepower: Speed costs money, how fast can you afford to go?

You can get 1,000 horsepower from that truck if you want, but it will probably cost you in the realm of like $40,000. If you plan on keeping it a small block, then you could increase the bore and stroke and step the 350 up to a 383 with a forged rotating assembly, high flow heads and a ridiculously ground cam, an aftermarket fuel injection system with a stand-alone programmable computer, a super charger, built 4L80E transmission with it's own computer and a 3400 locking stall converter, a locking rear differential with 4.11 gears, etc. etc. The rabbit hole goes deep.

How much change in mpg did you find with these upgrades?

Don't really need the horses but, mpg always catches my attention.

back when i first put it in... it was the MSD 6A, new cap and rotor, MSD 8.5 wires, and new plugs all at once. The MSD coil came later... but still, the initial increase was about 50 miles average more per tank... w/ mixed driving. I guess that's about 2mpg?

I think the truck had about 50k miles on the odometer. I'm now over 160k, and mpg has gone done... but it could be because of many other reasons. The best thing about the MSD though, is the starting and idle. It fires up almost instantly when the key is turned, and the idle has always been silky smooth (granted the engine was well maintained)... even to this day.

I don't 'gun' the truck, so i don't know how much faster it went... but I will never remove the MSD... in fact, I'd do it again if I could.
