That's a bummer, on the other hand, looking at gaskets and reviews most people got 90-100k off the **** gaskets, so hopefully this one holds up for a few more years since its only got about 55k on it, I don't mind tearing down the head, at least I wouldn't if I had a place to do it in, and there lies my problem, down to time and space

on another note, both my helper springs for the rears and the set of sparkplugs came in, so now its down to doing one or the other, time and weather permitting

also converted my negative cable to use the top-mount post so I could quite using the ****ty side posts on my battery, luckily it has both sets so it was as simple as screwing the side mount cable onto a marine battery terminal and then attaching it like I had already done on the positive side...works a lot better

Some of the stock gaskets can make it to 200k, some (like the ones on my 96) can make it to 60k, the "New GM" gaskets are similar to the old ones, they just have a steel washer imbedded in them to keep them from being crushed, the ones I like are actually a steel backer with rubber around it.

Well I got the new plugs installed today, starts up a fraction smoother, other than that no noticeable difference, will have to check my econ and see if that helped at all. The old plugs were definitely dirty, and a couple of them had some corrosion and rust around the collar, glad I replaced them

Didn't see any sign of leaking coolant where the gaskets are, but even with the mirror it was hard to check, found a super-slow oil leak around the oil cooler but tightened the bolts and that should solve that hopefully

my reserve bottle doesn't seem to hold antifreeze, not sure if this is indicative of the LIM gasket problem or if its just a problem with the bottle itself or natural evaporation, I have really only added coolant to it once anyways

Was going to do the helper springs today but the kit was missing the Ubolts, called the company and getting ubolts sent out in a few days

Also ordered a pair of Laclede sport pro tire chains, will be making a couple pass trips this winter and better safe than sorry, plus $30 is a solid price

Tightining the bolts wont stop the leak I bet, they do make a seal kit with new gaskets for the oil cooler adapter....... Help section of you parts store....

Reserve bottle should have a full cold / full hot line, fill to cold or hot depending upon if cold or hot, keep tabs on the level when cold or hot, should reflect temp and not get lower, if getting lower, you are leaking / burning coolant somewhere.....

Alright well I will look into getting the correct gasket for it, it is an easy fix and I can do that at my next oil change, which I will be doing sometime in the next few months, until then at least its a slow leak and besides making a mess of the oil/trans pans its not too bad
