OK, so this is my first Tahoe, let alone my first truck. I have settled on the GM exhaust (which is Borla, right?) and I am looking for the best price since the dealer cost is outrageous. I have found the exhaust/intake (Airraid?) on gm accessories for $912. Then I'm not sure which tip is the right one...

Also what performance/mileage increases should I expect. I have seen several threads on these topics with some mixed answers, just looking for some guidance and clarification. TIA!:cool2:

Try contacting "73Shark" on this forum, for he has GM exhaust/CAI on his Tahoe and could best give you an opinion on performance, etc.

You shouldn't really expect any mileage gains. If you see any performance gains, it would probably only be at WOT.

the GM exhasut sounds good, but really give you no added performance. The GM CAI is quite good and I would recommend it.

for performance enhancements for the exhaust, there are 2 I would recommend ad they sound quite good: Corsa, and BillyBoat twin pipe, not signal.

The issue with so many CAI is that they are open to the engine compartment. The GM one is not. Volant would also be a closed system that would do well as well

Yep, intake and exhaust will not increase performance or mileage that much. You will need a "tune" like Superchips to see any noticable gains (although still not that great). Those mods are really for sound and improved throttle response.

I have the Touring version of the GM performance exhaust on my 07. Didn't see a significant performance change although, it sounds pretty bad a** when you romp on it. I would go with a aftermarket tip though. I don't like any of the GM ones.

Hi,

I have a 2007 Chevy Suburban and was looking to add an air intake for a little more power and better fuel economy. I was also looking to get a hypertech programmer.

After reading this thread it seems that will not make a difference. What wuold you recommend for increased fuel economy and how much would it should in terms of mpg?

Cheers and thanks for all the help guys. It must get annoying with newbies like me on this (First truck).

Watch out with the GM Parts Direct prices for the exhaust- they're wrong. If you look at say, that Chesrown dealership online, which seems to have hijacked all the links to GM accessories, they show heavy discounts from list. And correctly show the Touring as more expensive than the Performance. Then if you go to GM Parts Direct, they will show virtually everything like 8% cheaper than Chesrown. But not the catbacks- they're more expensive and both the same price! I emailed them, since they don't have a phone number, and they totally missed my point and went on about how they can't price match and the prices are right, blah blah. So I don't know what they're problem is but remember, It's not even a real GM company, it's an outside company licensed to sell GM accessories. Wondering if they're just taking advantage of a popular item.

So they say both systems list for $801 and sell for $678, it's the only thing they have that I can probably find much cheaper elsewhere. Strange.

Hello- If you find an exhaust or intake that you like, PM me, I get wholesale pricing. I have a small shop but am also a loyal tahoe forum newbie with a tahoe.

Hey CIA whats PM mean? Sorry this is not only my first Tahoe, but first forum:D I would like to stick with the GM exhaust (Sport)/intake/tip.

In response to above post....GM Parts Direct is a different site than GM Accessories.

Yeah it is, they're an independent company with a GM license. I just wanted to point out how they were the cheapest on everything except that, and how both them and GM accessories charge the same price for both systems, where everywhere else charges like $100 more for the Touring. It's wierd.

I just ordered a K&N Series 63 intake for my '08 Denali. I presume I don't need a tune or anything else with this intake?

You should make sure that any cold air intake does not have heat infiltration from the engine compartment. Adding heated air does reduce the efficiency of a CAI system

It has a cover that is supposed to block the engine heat from getting to the filter. I just wanted to make sure that a tune wasn't a necessity with a CAI.
