I don't necessarily want to order one, because i think you lose some of the negotiation pricing (could be wrong on that one) I prefer to pick and negotiate from one off the lot...fortunate for me that the sales of SUVS have slowed down to gas pricing should be more of a buyers market for us tahoe buyers.

My lease on my bmw ends in the august/september 08 time frame and i was thinking of turning it in now and getting an 08 tahoe...but i definately like the changes that I see coming on the 09 tahoe...6.2l 6speed bluetooth, 110v, cooled seats ALL those things make a difference for me.

So in terms of tahoe what months in the year do they usually come out with the following year models in the lot?

P.S. I see the 09 vette is already out...so I wonder what else is to follow

the cut off for ordering an 08 i think is in aprial and they start producing them in june.

so anything you order in aprial will be an 09 but the gm plants shut down for two weeks in july to get ready for the new vehicle lines. i think after then is when they will really start hitting the lots. im gunna order to get everything i want. but do what you want.

Was going to ask you when u were ordering but I saw your signature. What exactly are you going to order? How much is it going to come out to be? I'm looking for the best program on the tahoe so I think I'm gonna lease. Wanna keep warranty and price point down.

HMMMMmmmm. I grit my teeth every time this topic comes up, and never respond, but I think I'll let the cat outta the bag this time. I ain't hatin' on any of ya, and just hear me out...

Don't lease. Leasing is a mistake, unless you're not the one paying the payments (i.e business vehicle). Leasing is the most expensive way to operate a vehicle. It has nothing to do with "price point". Sounds like you're referring to the monthly payment. Dealers love leases because they make huge amounts of money on them and can qualify buyers who would not otherwise be able to afford such a costly vehicle. You might as well just rent one from Hertz, cuz that's what you're doing in a lease. Unfortunately, it "Hertz" you in the bank account way more than it should.

If you're asking "How much down?", and "How much per month?", then I'd caution you to re-evaluate your new vehicle purchase. Consider saving up the cash first, then buying a gently used 2003-2006 vehicle with that cash. You'll find that despite it's towing capacity, even a Hoe will drive much better when it's not dragging around a $650-$800/month payment. You might sleep better a night too, knowing your truck is PAID FOR and belongs to YOU, not the bank or some dealer finance company.

In my un-enlightened youth, I leased two vehicles, and kept them both, and I'd never do it again. Not because I didn't like the vehicles; but because I got sick when I saw how much they cost me. I could have bought a much nicer vehicle for what I paid in payments, and would have owned it at the end. Lesson learned. Now I pay cash for my vehicles.

You need to get out of the mind-set that you'll always have some kind of a car payment. But, now this monologue is headed into philosophical territory (as if it wasn't already there)... :D

I know I'll probably get flamed or labeled as a weirdo, but so be it. I'm not the one wanting to drive a cool truck and trying to figure out how to pay for it.

You seem like smart guys and you'll do what works for you, and again, I'm not hatin' on ya -- just loathing the idea of a car payment. Something to think about.

Good luck!

I agree and would never lease unless it was a business auto and 100% write off. Even then, I would have to figure on the 50.9 cents a mile for business use if it was a purchase and the fact you would still own the truck to see which approach was the best business decision.

Ive leased three cars and I swear by it...If im mistaken I think your under the impression you pay MORE for a lease than you do for financing (in terms of monthly payments) I've had two BMW's and an ACURA TL and the payments for financing i would have never been able to be in those cars. Never owned a truck before. Every three years I'm in a BRAND new car with almost nothing out of pocket (inceptions) when i take the new car out of the lot. Plus to mention I've never had to pay for anything on my cars other than maybe a new set of tires (always within warranty)

I got a 3000mile 05 bmw M3 in late 05 for 0 down and i pay 614$ a month from swapalease...

I would definately appreciate more of your opinions on the subject I dont mind that the thread be derived that way...could always use intelligent discussion.

before my father retired, he owned a business that gave him and his partner a company car, they always leased, reason they did as they never took the depreciation hit, always had a new car ever 8 months, and saved money in the long run, not haveing to spend 50k for 5 new cars every year, leaseing makes sense in some areas.

i keep my cars along time so i pay cash and buy out right just because i like my cars.

but if i traded cars ever 2 years i would definatly lease. no wasted money on a depreciation hit. makes sense to me.

look at this.

a FULLY LOADED tahoe is say 50k if you bought it. the minuite you drive it off the lot you loose 12,500

if you get a 3 year lease for 1000 a month for 36 months is only 36k, and then you get rid of the vehicle and get a new one. look 36k bought you a 50k car.

I have that same mindset. I hate having a car payment, I guess that came from my parents always paying cash for their cars, but I can't stand having the weight of a loan on my shoulders, paying cash is a must for me. I think theres times in everybodys life when they need to borrow, but when I do have to, I make sure it's a good investment and pay it off as soon as possible. I'm with you, save up then pay for it.

The order cut off for 2008's is April 1st, and then for 2009's at each of the 2 Tahoe plants:
June 23rd: Arlington, TX production starts
July 21st: Janesville, WI production starts

So, the first ones will physically start hitting lots in mid to late July, and should be in the system for ordering starting in late April or May.

Again, as said above...there need not be ANY "guestimates".

'09 Tahoe production starts the 3rd of June in Arlington and then the 21st of July in Janesville...so you will see the first few '09s rolling onto lots earliest in mid to late July and the beginning of August.

The ordering for them should be open in May sometime, and the 2007 production will wrap up after that, then switchover.
