Barn door hinges

The pin in my rear door hinge rusted and has snapped. Has anyone replaced these? I can't seem to get the pin out and don't want to use a torch as I am afraid of marring my paint.

The Chilton manual mentions retainers on the hinge pins. Did you see anything like that?
