Are there holes on the back gate behind the Chevy and Tahoe badges? Or will removing them require a shave?

Behind the TAHOE letters and the FlexFuel emblem, no. You can take those off with a heat gun and you're good. But there are alignment holes behind the bowtie emblem you'd have to fill if you take it all the way off.

Some folks like me have removed the gold bowtie from its silver/chrome background and just run the chrome one. That takes a bit more caution to do. mine came out fine. Heat gun and soft pry tool. Some have tried fishing line to cut thru the adhesive between the gold and chrome layers as well.

I was tempted to peel my emblems off, but i was unsure what to do with the glue residue? Would like goop work and not mess my paint up?

I took mine off my 2004 Tahoe tonight. A little alcohol took the residue off fine, and did not mess up the clear or wax. I did wax the area afterward to get it all the same shine. I used a hair dryer, and to pry it off I took a 1/4" wide zip tie and made it into a loop. Once I got it under the edge I just pulled slowly. The "CHEVROLET" was a pain because it's so thin in some places. The "TAHOE" was a pain because it's pretty much a solid piece of 3M VHB tape behind the entire friggin badge.

My badges were a little faded and worn, so I opted to remove them.

I took mine off, but the paint had already faded. I have the outlines of the old emblems on my tailgate, but nowhere else.

That sucks man. How long were they on there?

Mine left a slight impression, which came completely off when I waxed over it.
I think it might even have been that it was perfectly preserved underneath, so the "swirl" marks from cleaning were not there.

I decided to debadge in late 03. So I guess almost 3 years.

No fading on any of the sides. First one I took off was the "LS" on the door pillar, and it left no fading - so I did all of them. Guess the previous owner parked it outside or something.

I took my emblems off my 04. Kinda left a mark due to some fading. Goo be gone took the resedue off fairly well.

As for the bow tie on the grill, I sanded mine down, taped it off really well and painted it the color of the body. Hit it with a wet sand, came out excellent.
