awd ?'s 04 tahoe

back in the early 90's i had an 84 S-10 regular cab shortbox 2wd that i put a 383 stroker motor in. give/take 425 horse at the wheels with 4.11 gears. that was my daily driver year around. no anti locks, no traction control, and i still never managed to ditch it, and i dont slow down for much.

i have other vehicals to play in, i just dont really like the way this thing trys to take control away from the driver. im sure it works fine if you arent really in any deep snow or anything, but if you are how are you supposed to get up any momentum?

i took my blazer to work today for the sole reason of playing around in the ice/snow. 2 and 4 wheel drive power slides are just way to much fun!:thumbsup:

im not sure what the drop is, but 2/3 looks about right to me. it was done shortly before i got it.

I paid less than $200 but reasonably I'd say $400-$600 installed for keys, shocks/extensions, torsion keys, install and alignment. I'll have some 4" coils for sale this spring.

Im pretty fond of the $200 price :cool2:

finishing my engineering degree, been working on cars since I was about 7 but still have a long way to go. Most of the stuff is simple for me to grasp, I'm kind of a nerd but I also like cutting sh*t up and fabricating if necessary.

any recomended products for lowering my truck? I dont want it to ride like ****

My belltech rides nice, bout 4.5" of drop so you'll want to trim the stock bumpstops and bracket down to the frame for more travel. These things ride fine lowered, really doesn't change the handling except for a lower center of gravity (these trucks don't have much travel to begin with). 2/3 with some burly tires looks good on the z71 imo.

Dude. I need help. I have like the complete bass akwards of ADD. I cant stop working on this one thing until I get it done, and done to my liking. I want to move on, but I just freakin cant, Im being serious here. Its like a true curse on my being. :mad2:

Burley tires you say? What do you have in mind? I really like the 305/50/20 i am running right now (not the brand as the gt2's are gigantic peices of horrible riding ****) but i do like the size/profile

Its only when working though. My house is usually a mess, corvette is usually the only one I polish once a week. I mean only time I do laundry is when I run out of clothes, I loose about 10 shirts a week to my dogs cause I leave them on the floor. Its only when working on somthing. But also If im doing somthing and I screw Up I keep redoing it until its done. LOL


But back to your drop. While I dont usually like lowered tahoes period, especally your z71. I actully think that white ones for some reason look better lowered and black ones should be jacked way up. IDK why. Just kinda how I think of it.LOL

wouldn't that cause rubbing though??? Stock arent ya pushing it, the droping it isnt that just making it worse. I have never lowered a tahoe, but it may require some shaving.

Should be fine with correct backspacing, just have to trim some plastic or mold it out with a heat gun/hairdryer.

Im not 100% on either of those measurments, the rims were on the truck when i bought it back in july and i have never dismounted the tire since ive owned the truck... my best guess would be 10" wheels, not sure; I cannot find these rims anywhere anymore online to try and figure it out. I am not at all sure about the back spacing, Im not even sure how much back spacing is allowed on these trucks and what the total clearance is. The wheel (tire) does hang a bit further than the truck (past the fender flares) by maybe a quarter or half inch or so.

Depends on the tire, mine are pretty big especially with the drop but they don't rub at all with 2/4.5 drop

im gonna have to dig out my plum-bob and start messing with the well measurments if i am gonna drop it

285/55/20 and 305/55/20 should fit with a 2/3 drop depending on th tread. I'm running nnbs 20x8.5 with 275/55/20 pro comp all terrains (32"x11.3"). BTW your link doesn't work.
