Hey everyone! New guy here.

I just purchased a 2005 LT Tahoe. Who ever ordered it must have checked off every box on the option list because I don't think there's anything it doesn't have. It's equipped with the Autoride suspension. This makes me a little nervous because it no doubt would cost alot of money to fix should there ever be a problem with it. I live in Canada and the winters here are quite harsh. There is alot of salt spread on the roads which causes vehicles here to rust very quickly unless they are undercoated. This is another reason why I am concerned about the autoride option.

I know many of you probably know these SUV's inside out. Are there any issues with this suspension and if so what kind of measures can I take to ensure I don't have an expensive repair bill? Since I only puchased the Tahoe two days ago I'm not familiar with any problems they may have. If any of you have any tips on how to keep this rig running problem free I'd like to here them.

I'm a car guy and I spent all day detailing the heck out of it! Looks great! I'd also be interested in hearing about any popular modifications people are doing, performance and otherwise.

Thanks to anyone who replies. I'm looking forward to getting some great tips!

Haha I think most Autoride problems come in after 80-90k if you do run into them, so you should have a while before you even have to worry about it. That's the reason I didn't get autoride when I ordered my OBS Tahoe. I got everything but Autoride, only because everytime I thought about it all I could see was my Grandmas old sagging Town Car that needed a new air ride sys haha.

Anyways, theres two common issues with the Tahoes, neither are major. First is the instrument cluster, one or all of the gauges go crazy, the odomoter may rest at 30 MPH, something like that. Theres an extended warranty on it, up to 70k miles they will replace it for free if you have a problem. Customers are pushing them for 80k. The second is the intermediate steering shaft, do a search you should find plenty. When mine went it felt like something cracking in the steering column when I would back up. I don't think its dangerous, just annoying.

Other than that they're pretty solid trucks, enjoy it.
