Hello all, I just purchased a 2001 Tahoe Lt with autoride and I am not familiar with this system. The vehicle has 113k miles and is a 4x4. My compressor comes on for about 5 to 10 secs every time I start the Tahoe, and it does not seem to matter how long it sits. I don't know if this is normal or I have a problem. Also, it will come on about the same amount of time throughout your drive, maybe about once every 4 to 5 miles. I took it to my mechanic and he said it seems like I have a leaking shock but didn't know which one so he disconnected the compressor thinking it would sink on the corner of the bad shock but after sitting over night I really couldn't tell one way or the other. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to diagnose this problem. I know alot of people have abandon this system but I am willing to fix it because for me it would come in handy since I am planning on pulling a trailer periodically, thanks to all.

Either adjust the sensors extremely short or get under it with some soapy water in a spray bottle and hose down the shocks and compressor after you start the truck. Any leaks should be visible through the soap. The shocks are expensive to replace, I'd look around on ebay for some used ones if it needs replacement.

I soaped down my rear shocks and found numerous small leaks in both. I'm sure this is why my compressor was running so much. Going to replace them and go from there, thanks.

Has anyone replaced the shocks? Better yet, has anyone 'turned off' the Autoride and gone w/std shocks?

My part of the Riddle...

Has anyone replaced the shocks? Better yet, has anyone 'turned off' the Autoride and gone w/std shocks?

Just to further the discussion along -- I likewise have an '01 Tahoe LT. It was delivered with Autoride and I can look under the truck and observe the Autoride shocks with their little lever actuation arms. Here's my puzzle: My compressor NEVER turns on. The truck rides just fine and frankly I'm happy.

I purchased it used but from a party that probably would not have had the presence of mind to do a BCM tune, etc.

How come I don't get some kind of idiot warning light? If I were to get one, what would it say?

Kind of a mystery to me...

Is it the SECURITY light?

Still wondering about which light is supposed to indicate an Autoride malfunction? Every once in a while I get a SECURITY light for no reason...
