Ive replaced the belt, the tensioner pulley, the idler pulley, water pump, and removed the fan and clutch...all with in a month and STILL getting a belt squeek. Ive been spraying dressing on it and it has been doing the job. Today leaving work it was ridiculous (maybe because I had a long day). After inspecting eveything I noticed a build up of what seems like belt rubber on the tensioner casing closest to the water pump. Does anyone have any ideas? I dont think its any of accesories causing drag because they all spin freely with out the belt on. I thought it could possibly be somethng internal but its not. PLEASE HELP!!!

damn, dude. Maybe electric fans would solve this? lol, just kidding.no wait, im not kidding. :D

I bet this is getting super frustrating.
You mentioned some belt-goo buildup on the tensioner casing.. if you have a new belt, and its not like, the leftovers from the belt dressing, is it possible that the belt is faulty or rubbing somewhere in the travel path? If the tensioner is moving freely, and all the pullies are in alignment ( in the same plane) with each other, I dont see what could be giving you the squeek of death except a component..

can you sit and have it idle and take a short piece of garden hose, put one end to your ear, and like a stethoscope, kind of move it around to listen to the exact source? Is your power steering and AC all in good order? does this squeaking ever go away, ever? if the belt dressing makes it go away for just a little bit, it doesnt sound like a bearing went bad... Im just throwin' stuff out there.

tell your wife your taking care of it ONCE AND FOR ALL.

im in the same boat, although i never put belt dressing on it.

new water pump, tensioner, belt, alternator, fan clutch....

thinking i may have smoked another alternator, but my voltage is good when its spuealing. it goes down when its not... that or this new water pump is a POS like the reman. i put on it.. (it lasted a day) i don't know, it goes away in a couple minutes of starting it 90% of the time, been putting it off.

I clean my engine bay out at least once a month, so its not left overs. Ive had two new belts in a month (thinking that would fix it). Ive done the stethoscope trick and still cannot figure it out. Everything seems to be in good working order. I am absolutely lost... I know I'm gonna break down and just replace everything in the front....DANGIT!!!

It doesnt change with the A/C. Im starting to lean towards alternator though...but thats the thing, with the belt off it turns freely and doesnt make any noise. And it go's away after heating up. Ive no voltage problems either. As far as the belts I dont remember, got it from Pep Boys

spinning freely is good. I wonder if you apply the side-pressure that the belt makes on the alternator pully, if that would make the squeak. maybe the alt is the culprit. cause if it isnt, Im not sure what it is.

i had this problem with my mom escort i thought it was the alt i changed it squeak still
there. the air never did work and the squeak was coming from the compressor.

i by passed the com and no more squeak. so you might want to check your compressor.

put some oil in it.

Ok......NAPA belts are the best and all other belts SUCK! That was the problem all along. The difference between the belts are crazy. The NAPA belt is alot thicker and seems to be coated the asphalt on the grooved side. I STRONGLY reccommend to everyone having a squeek to try one og these belts first...and DONT use belt dressing. Belt dressing breaks down the rubber over time
