thats not real off roading - you will be fine.

tell me what is then, the rocks will be bigger, those are just the best pics i could find.

go to hummer.com, look at some of the H3 pics off road (just h3, not h3x not alpha). all of those are rocks, thats more like the tarrain. i have seen this thing on the beach, and mud, does fine, but never more that puddles, or gravel.

so water and bolders, think its cool?

Yeah you will be fine. I've taken stock trucks over that type of terrain with beginner drivers many times. Your good as long as your careful.

I'm used to Rubicon, the Hammers, Moab, and tellico.

If you have the money rent the Hummer, but they often say no off roading, that and I wouldn't tear my rig up off roading as off roading is really hard on vehicles.

Long wheelbase and poor approach angles are gonna kill ya but the modest trails should be fine, keep in mind wheeling a truck with torsion bars is kinda weird unless you run a fairly stiff shock. I beat the hell out of my brother's 03 duramax on 33's and it wheeled pretty well for being such a beast. Go find a cheap cherokee and lift it on 31's, perfect budget wheeler and you won't care if you scratch the hell out of it. I'd go rent an h3 alpha or borrow someone's jeep

buying a jeep would be alot more expensive than renting a hummer, can get an h2 (07) for about 578.99 out the door, with taxes for 3 days. a running jeep gunna cost at least 2k and need some work also. plus im traveling for 6 hours, im not sure a jeep would be comfortable for that long, but i could put it on a flat bed trailer and tow it with the kon. , im gunna look in to it, i have until march 4th.

I was thinking if it turned into a hobby.

Dont chance it man, rent a Hummer. If you mess up the Hummer, youre stuck with it for 3 days and have to pay to get it fixed cheap, if you mess up your Kon, youre stuck with it for years and have to get it fixed right!

just curious - what advantages are you seeing in an H2 over your yukon? aside from clearance and tire size/tread pattern.

their designed for it...

just look on the hummer website, they got then water clobering, and climbing rocks like crazy. you dont really see than on the chevy or gmc site. plus my yukon is rather low. even though its stock, i cant get under one with out banging my head, but i can a hummer. what should i pay 1000 to rent my neighbors supercharged landrover??

I think the H2/H3 advantages are lower gearing and better under carriage protection. I also think it is nuts to take a 30 to $40,000 vehicle off road and beat the crap out f it, unless you have deep pockets, because trust me you will break stuff.

30-40 is under estimateing, this thing was 55k, thats escalade territory. might as well go spend 100k on a porche and take that off road.

but actully the h2 has the same gears as i do. just has a manual locking dif. mine is auto and you cant always trust that.

Yeah but do you have the low range transfer case gearing and TCS 1 and 2 most likely not. I have been off roading with my friend and his H2 many times and I promise you you're Yukon could never do the things the H2 can do, but we are comparing apples to oranges, 2 different animals.

i actully do have low range gearing. and the same concept of TCS can be accheaved by shifting in to 1 and if you want 1 wheel to spin you go to 3. these are preety capable trucks, if you know how to drive them. now thats not gunna be the same as a hummer, but my TCS can also be turned off too.

Hmmm interesting, but you would maybe do a mild lift and beef up the skid plates underneath.
