Alternator Output, What Is It

Can someone tell me what the output is on the stock, oem, Z71 alternator?

Mine is starting to act up, a whine feedback back and I'm thinking of changing it out for a high-quality unit.

Is there a danger of purchasing a unit putting out more amps than the OEM, or do I have to match one-to-one??

i would not recomend getting a high output Alternator as it uses more HP to run the alternator which in turn also means it uses more Gas... I am not 100% but i think the stock alternator is like 160amps... the OEM alternator is more than you need and unless you have bad wires you will never have to replace it again after you replace it once....
