Hey whats up everybody great site I just bought a 2001 GMC Yukon lifted on 35's, I bought an alarm its a Clifford 2way with remote start built in, I installed the alarm got the door's, locks, lights, etc, tied in aux channel latched to turn on my 3 monitrors for the dvd system , all with no problem. I did have problems getting the remote start to work I am MECP certified installer even though I have moved on industrial controls for my professional career. ok I had trouble locating the tach input wire which is supposed to be white wire coming out of a red plug on the ECM located in the engine compartment. I didnt want to disconnect the battery or any of the wires on the ECM module, I got the yukon to turn on the ignition, even turn over it almost starts but doesnt quite make it, seems like it is missing an ignition I have followed DEI's wiring instuctions and the only wire that isnt connected from the ignition is the brown which is listed as a seond Accessory I saw another thread in this forum listing the brown as a third igniton wire? I bought the truck used and I think it only came with the factory keyless entry looked my SUV up and the DEI dealer did as well and no VATS kit is required. I hooked a relay up throwing a - pulse to the factory disarm wire, should i add an additional relay up to the second ignition ouput of the relay pack and power the brown off of this any info would be greatly appriciated and the yukon starts instantly with the key that came with it and the 2 copies I got made at Walmart for a 1.50 each.

Like OMAR stated above, the truck doesn't use the older VATS system, but uses PKII instead, so you still need an override module.
For the tach, you can use any of the fuel injector pulse wires as your tach source. Each injector will have two wires; one that is a common color on all eight injectors, and another that will be different. Use the different colored wire. This is easier to get to and splice into.
Also, there is no 3rd ignition wire on these trucks. The brown wire is 2nd accessory and will need to be powered up in order for everything to operate properly once the truck is remote started.
Make sure the rs system is programmed properly for the tach and that the Passlock II module is programmed and installed correctly. These two things will cause the symptoms you are having. To program the tach on most of the Clifford models, start the truck with the key, press and hold the valet/program button until the RS sytem's LED turns on solid. Once the LED turns on, then the system has learned the vehicle's tach signal.

If your starting your car with a wal mart key you shouldn't need a key
You can get a normal key cut for these vehicles that will still start the vehicle, but there is still an anti-theft system that needs a bypass module installed. The system is built into the ignition cylider rather than the key itself, and activates when the ignition switch is turned.
