After market head unit, stock tape player

So a while back I installed an after market head unit. Down the road I went to take the tape deck out so I could use the slot for something else. Long story short, all the sound cut out when I took the tape deck out of the loop. I had to hook it back up and it is just sitting behind the counsel now. I want to get rid of the clutter back there, so how do I cut the tape deck out without cutting the sound out? Thanks!

Anybody else ever run into this problem? Or should I just leave it hanging since it hasnt casued any problems yet? Thanks!

i took mine out(tape deck)... no problems. i also disconnected the rear seat controls...also no problems yet
