How accurate are our MPG displays? I haven't actually measured my MPG.

18 mpg / 14mpg with air on is the truth on our 5.3

Our 5.3 07 4x4 Tahoe got 1 tank at 20mpg this past winter on the interstate and that was all flat without the air on. My wife drives it to work about 5 miles of 1/2 country and 1/2 town driving and gets 14mpg.

Took it last week on a trip 17.9mpg with the air on. Filled up with E-85 on the same trip home and got 15.4mpg on the E-85.

Something I did notice when my wife uses the E-85 going to work it is the same as the reg gas at 14mpg

I'm in the sleepy (flat plains) of Bloomington, IL. No matter what, I can never seem to get more than 12 in the city, even keeping shifts at 2,000 rpms.

Even with the more stringent 2008 EPA mileage guidelines, I am still 2-3mpgs off sticker for both city and highway. Too bad I can't lemon it for that. Oh well. Didn't buy her for the fuel savings

I think your numbers are about as same as other guys here excepts for some guys who say they get 15-17 mpg in city which makes no sense to me. It will be true if you are driving in a place with no stop signs and lights.

I don't know how many miles she has but mine has about 18K miles. The mileage started doing much better after 10,000 miles. The service advisor at the dealership agreed that this happens. I guess the engines needs some time to break in.

I picked up a brand new '08 LT with the 5.3 and 3.42 gears from the dealership for a test drive for overnight. According to the computer, on the highway I was getting between 17 to 20 mpg. I don't know how accurate those are but it looked pretty good to me. Also, a post on here I read was right. The only time it switched to 4 cylinders was when I was going on the downside of an overpass or when I was slowing down and completely off the throttle. It drives great. If I can now get what I want for my truck, I might have to pull the trigger on one of these badboys.

Congrats on your new Hoe. I know you will love it. Much better than Fords I believe.

Any plans for mods? Post some pictures for us.

They just let me hold on to it overnight to see if I liked it. My truck is up for sale and if it sells for what I want, i'll go pick one up.
