I noticed today that my Tahoe has a pretty good kick to it when the truck shifts gears when accelerating from stop. When the truck changes gears I can notice a bigger kick than what I'm used to. Any ideas what can cause this?

How many miles to you have on it? I think you're supposed to have the fluid changed at 100k and but 50k if you tow alot.

I have about 38000 miles on it but it's shifting properly now....For some reason that day it just seemed like it was shifting a bit hard, but feels okay now, for the moment.

hey you know what you can try and i recommend it is the lucas additive to your tranny fluid it improves your shifting and keeps your tranny cooler. I put it in my truck and after a few minutes noticed smoother shifting and cooler temp on the tranny

alright....i think something is definitely going on because when I was driving through my neighborhood on the way back home from work I felt a big kick/jerk coming from the rear....I was only going about 10mph through the neighborhood, but when it started to shift it gave a big kick/jerk. It can't be my tranny fluid because that was just topped off about a couple of weeks ago. Anything else I can look at?

Mine does it too sometimes, only when its cold tho or you're too low of rpm in the gear and it will downhshift hard into whatever gear. I hate automatics...

I think I have the same problem, when I start to accelerate I get a slight kick and then when it shifts to the second gear I get a clunk noise most of the times, I always wondered if that was a sign of tranny problems, I hope not bc I just bought this thing like 2 months ago

This was happening off and on with me for about a month and then the check engine light came on. The dealer said the solenoid valve was cracked so they replaced it under warranty and I haven't had any problems since.
