What's going on folks,

Just picked up this truck less than a week ago and I'm starting to sort things out with her cosmetically and mechanically. She's a pewter 99 with 145k miles and runs great!

So I threw the truck on my scanner and it gave me a C0246 code for "Right Rear Solenoid Circuit Malfunction". If I erase the code, it only comes back on when I go over 5mph or so.

I've read about issues with the EBCM ground causing some issues so I cleaned everything up and made damn sure the ground was in good shape. I sprayed some rubberized undercoating over the bolt and whatnot so it wouldn't rust. I've got a rust free northern midwest truck so I'd like to keep her that way lol

The ground clean up didn't change the issue. Still pops up. I've done some research regarding the code, but nothing specific to anything in the right rear.

I've also got somewhat mushy brakes. I bought the truck expecting to do the brakes, only to dig in and find the brakes are all relatively new (called the PO and confirmed, replaced about 5k miles ago) - so all I did was flush out the brakes with the same blue **** I use in my drift car. Helped a bit, but not by much.

Any ideas on what I should attack next and what this code even means? lol

Thanks in advance.

I would check connection to the module too, had an issue with mine and turned out the plug wasn't plugged in all the way. reconnected it and its fine.

Sure seems like it. I know what I'll be looking for when I go junkyard hunting next.

Just cleaned all the ABS related connectors I could find on the car and no dice. Figure this one is going to be a little more difficult for me.

Still loving the truck though! Will definitely report back when I finally get the light to turn off.

Any time I want
Go with Mr Listers advice and if I may add you might want to service and adjust the rear brake shoes also to help bring a stiffer brake pedal

Just to bring some closure to this thread for anyone else with the issue - I replaced with ABS module with a good used one from local guy parting out a truck and I have functional ABS again.

Hi all. I have an issue. I have a '01 Tahoe. I get the ABS light only after rolling. It was intermittent and was accompanied by a screech. Now it happens every time and no sound. Is this the pump in the BPMV?

Yours sounds like a wheel sensor or hub assembly, but this is the squarebody part of the forum.....
