I have a lifted 1998 Tahoe. I sit at a red light, remove my foot from the brake, and it doesn't roll forward, or if it does, there is a clunk I feel in the front end and then it moves. It doesn't occur all the time but fairly often. What is this problem? I can't get it to reproduce itself when someone is trying diagnose it, so I'm a little concerned. Please help! Thank you!

Could be your front wheels aren't disengaging their clutches correctly and causing an increase in resistance or it could be that your torque converter isn't working correctly, I am sure someone more helpful will weigh in soon

What are these front wheel clutches you refer to? I looked up the torque converter, and it doesn't appear that I have any if the symptoms mentioned for troubleshooting. Where are these clutches located?

Not sure if Clutch is the right term but each front wheel is always "live" but only when 4wd is engaged, otherwise the wheels are disconnected from the transfer case using a clutch system, but if they don't disengage properly then the front wheels will drag on the transfer case

Front wheel axles are disengaged inside the FRONT DIFFERENTIAL, there is a servo motor that slides a lock pin in and out to engage/ disengage the front axle (the wheels are ALWAYS live to the differential).

Guess I could have tried to help with your question....

Are you in 4X4 or 4X2 mode?
Does it klunk when you take off/ stop sometimes? or does it rev then klunk?
