The A/C compressor will continue to cycle even though the fan is turned off, the A/C button is off and no air is coming through the vents. Any ideas?

If you climate control is selected to defrost or defrost/feet you ac compressor will run even with the fans off and the AC button off. At least mine and my fathers aways does.

Every vehicle I've had with AC has done this when the defrost mode is on. The concept is that WARM AND DRY air will defrost/defog/demist the glass much quicker and efficiently than warm moist air. So, the outside air, from presumably the humid conditions that caused the frost/fog/mist, is run thru the AC evaporator first to condense as much water vapor from it as possible and then run thru the heater core to heat it back up all before blowing it on the windshield to defrost/defog/demist the glass. Hence, even with AC and fan buttons off but the defrost on the AC system will still run to help produce warm dry air.
