Hi, we have a 99 Chevy Tahoe 4WD that is making a loud noise while driving. The noise goes away if you are in 4WD. We have had the wheel bearings checked and they are fine. One mechanic said that he thinks it could be the ring and pinion gear in the transfer case. Has anyone ever had this problem or know what it could be? Before I drop a lot of money to get it fixed, I want to make sure it is the right thing. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to check??
