I have a 97 Yukon which stopped running on me while driving.

When I spray starting fluid in the TB, it will run, but quit when I stop spraying.

Because of this, I assumed fuel pump, but after checking, I can hear the Fuel Pump relay click when I turn on the key, I can see that the Fuel Pump is getting power, and I can hear it running.

So not a pump or relay issue, what else to check?

The symptoms before it stopped running was that it was hard to start. Intermittently I had to spray starting fluid in the TB to get it to start, after which it would run fine.

Thanks in advance

I don't but I will borrow/buy one next to check pressure as a next step.

Do the fuel pressure regulators ever go bad on these things?

I havent seen that mentioned much here, but that doenst mean it doesnt happen.
I think you should borrow that tester real quick like and see what kind of PSI you got going on.
did this problem gradually set in? did you ever get a random stalling of the engine before it totally wouldnt start?

Yah, before it died I was driving at hwy speeds, the engine died for about 2 seconds then caught again running fine, then died completely 10 minutes later...

The hard starts came about about 1 month before it died completely.

give the gas tank a good thud with a rubber mallet and see if that helps you get one last start out of it. I heard that can work in a pinch.

I think its your pump.. do you see fuel spraying from the injectors into the throttle body when you ( or someone) is starting it up?.. something is not flowing I think. how many miles?

About 200,000 Kms - Fuel Pump is less than 1 year old, new plastic lines at the same time. Not sure if the Fuel Filter was ever changed though.

Finally got myself a fuel pressure tester. I am only getting 10 PSI.

Gonna change the Fuel Filter first and go from there to fuel pump.

Well, The symptoms where just not doing it for me when it came to the fuel pressure regulator, seemed to intermittent. So I can a ground from the battery to the frame and sure enough, 65PSI now...

So, Moral of the story, make sure your grounds are good before fawking around with the pump.

Thanks!
