Hi guys,
I'm a newb here. I am trying to fix my fathers Tahoe for him. He recently had a stroke and I don't want him to stress about his truck even though he isn't able to drive it yet. Anyway, My brother drove it while he was in the hospital and ran the thing out of gas. I went to go start it just to keep up with it and it would not start. It would crank and crank and crank until the battery died but it just would not turn over. I put about 20 dollars of gas in it and it still would not start so I sprayed some gunk I beleive it is called into the throttle body and it started and then cut out when it burned that up. So I was told maybe it was the fuel filter or fuel pump so I started with the fuel filter today. I took it off and gas did come out of the filter but when I turned the key nothing came out of the fuel line coming from the tank. I am wondering if that would indeed mean the fuel pump is bad. Please let me know what you think. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Check the fuse first. Then turn the key to on but don't start. If fuse is good and you don't hear a slight wine then most likely your pump is bad.

Thanks for the reply. Is that the fuel pump relay you are talking about? Also, How do I go about checking that? If I'm not mistaken it is the cube style relay. Thanks again.

no the blade fuse. But if you feel a click when someone turns thr key to on then the fuse and relay are good. After that if you turn the key and don't hear a slight wine from the fuel pump then I would lean to the pump.
