Guys...My yoke is showing some looseness and bearings are making a little noise from the rear diff. Figured Id start looking into rebuilding the rear diff and want to know about what it should cost me to rebuild it. I know its more if they have to replace the carrier and all that but run me some numbers. thanks

It all depends on who your going to have doing it.. - are you looking at just replacing the bearings? or are you looking to upgrade? the factory rear-ends in our suvs are pretty weak (ive been thru 4 myself) you should be able to get by with a full rebuild for $800-$1200 depending on what brand of gears you choose - now i have had a rear-end changed before (just the spider-gears, axle gears, the pumpkin and the ring) for $300.. but everything was factory and it held up for about 10-15,000 miles till the spider gears come right back out, and then after replacing them that held up for about 5000 till everthing came out ring pinion and all..

are you planning on regearing since your lifting the truck?

call up 4 wheel parts and have them give you a quote on front and rear G2 gears and a limited slip or locker. they'll be putting in my G2 4.88's and the Auburn E-locker before to long.

if you have any other local shops see if you can get them into a price battle for your business.

depending on what you want and what the labor charges are your prolly lookin about a grand for aftermarket parts, prolly $600+ on stocker parts depending on where you get them and who installs them.

it cost me $1,400.00 to get mine rebuilt on my 95 yukon.

1 yr after had to replace driver side leaking seal. they used what they call repair bearings

the seal is made with the bearings. paid $53.00 for that part
